Wilsonville, OR and Neskowin, OR

Sept 22, 2014
Well here we go on our final trip of the year. We arrived in Wilsonville at about 1 so got set up and went out for lunch. Then to Camping World to pick up a couple of things. Then back to the park for the evening. It was not a very nice day but we were able to sit out after dinner for a while.

After breakfast we went to Aurora, OR to the local museum to see if we have any folks in their available genealogy records. I went to Aurora in the 50's with Gpa and Gma Leever. One name I remembered was Kiel which is the name of the original settler of the town. Also, we found that Gail has relatives from the area. After some hours talking to the curator of the museum we found we need to gather more information before further pursuing the historical issue. We will work on it and go see the curator on our next visit. Then to lunch and back to the park to prepare for our drive to Neskowin, OR in the AM.

Our drive to Neskowin Creek RV Park was less than 100 miles so we left the park at about 10:30. The park is an open field with three rows on full hook up sites. Nothing spectacular to tell about the place except the bathrooms and facilities are clean and there are a lot of rabbits on the grounds. We drove into Pacific City to have lunch at the Pelikan Pub and Brewery and watched the surf for a bit. It was very windy along the beach. After dinner in the park we sat out around our fireplace for the evening.

We had breakfast and did a load of laundry before going on a drive to Tillamook. We visited the Blue Heron Cheese Factory and bought a great blue salad dressing and a soup mix. Then we went to  lunch in Netarts at The Schooner Restaurant looking out at the wind and rain in the bay. We drove back to the park via Three Capes Road. This is a pretty drive along the coastline. We had a nice dinner and the wind died down so we sat by the fire for the evening. Tomorrow we drive to the Depoe Bay area, only about 30 miles.
